Metal 2020

Warbringer sounds okay.
I haven't held out much hope for Annihilator for years but despite I Am War not being that good it's better than anything Jeff's done for a while.
There is also a tentative Feb release for Testament but the band, or label, are keeping the details quiet at this stage

Gene's obviously restricted to what he can say but he has said the album is mixed and ready to go. Chuck and the others are saying little more than possibly Feb 2020. I don't know if it's them being silent or the label but it's fucking annoying. There is bands out there with exact dates for album releases up to the end of 2020 yet Testament can't give us something for what is about 2 or 3 months.

A lot of the material with Derrick Green is actually okay (or what I've heard of it is) but not to the standards of shit like Schizophrenia obviously.
Couldn't agree more. Basically from Dante XXI they've been playing traditional sounding metal, it's a shame that all of the people who gave up on them in the late 90's don't give them much of a chance these days cause their last few albums have been fairly solid with lots of instrumentation to boot.

Speaking of Gene, new Dark Angel planned for 2020

Gene has said that while he hopes the new DA will be soon it's far from set in stone. Him and Jim have written stuff but it's not recorded and they only get limited chances to sit down and work together. He's back on the road with Testament from early in the new year, he's writing an album with his wife, which he admits is further down the list than DA, and he's got several other solo/guest projects on the go. I heard an interview with him about a month ago where he suggested DA could easily be Christmas 2020

It’s been a hell of a job. Pretty complex songs, mixing and mastering, getting everyone on board with the final mix, but… it’s done! We will start making the final CD master cut this Friday.

We hope we can release the new album as soon as possible. Just bear with us. It won’t be long now.

VADER Frontman On Band's Upcoming New Album "It’s Probably The Most Brutal In The History Of Vader."
The album will probably be released late January or beginning of February. I can’t say the title yet because I’m still thinking, I can’t decide about that. I’m still waiting for the main cover art by Wes Benscoter. But the album was recorded, all the songs and the title of the songs are already done, so probably we’re going to make it public. And what can I say, I’m sure the fans will like it. It’s different than the last album The Empire, I think it’s a little more... it’s not the same, because... maybe I shouldn’t say that. Let’s just wait and let the fans decide if they like it or not. It’s going be a very brutal album, it’s probably the most brutal in the whole history of Vader. But that’s Vader, so what can I say?"

2020 also marks the 30th anniversary of Morbid Reich, the 25th anniversary of De Profundis, the 20th anniversary of Litany and the 15th anniversary of The Art of War.

Invictus Productions:
Today we reveal the cover of the forthcoming Malokarpatan album Krupinské Ohne, which will be out officially on Friday March 21st!

The artwork was created by Matúš S. Ďurčík, aka, Svjatogor, a graphic designer and artist from Slovakia who was chosen to represent the historical themes throughout the new album. Says guitarist Adam of the artist and artwork, "I wanted to work with Svjatogor already when having the album concept set, as his personal style works wonderfully with the historical topic of the record and gives it a feeling of an old book rediscovered after gathering dust somewhere within lost archives. He perfectly understood the tension between the dreamy idyll of a pastoral world and the sinister, nightside elements of folklore that always lies at the heart of our work."

Svjatogor's artwork can be viewed at the links below;

The new album will be available on gatefold LP, on regular black vinyl and limited dark orange vinyl, jewel case CD and cassette along with represses of the first two albums and will be available for pre-order at midday (CET) on Friday December 6th along with an exclusive, limited edition wooden box set titled "Trilógia ludového desu", which features all three full length albums on vinyl with a metal pin, patch and t shirt.

There are 85 colour vinyl box sets and 85 black vinyl box sets available only from Invictus. Shipping worldwide.

Box sets and the new album will ship to customers in early March in time for the album's release.

A track from the album will be published shortly to satiate your hunger for more Malokarpatan!

From Facebook:
US Progressive Metal pioneers and innovators Psychotic Waltz OFFICIAL return in their full original line-up with their highly anticipated 5th studio album and first new music in 23 years. Entitled “The God-Shaped Void”, the upcoming new album and InsideOutMusic debut will be released on February 14th, 2020.

The basic tracks for “The God-Shaped Void” were recorded with engineer Ulrich Wild in the band’s hometown of San Diego, then the rest of the recordings at Studio D in Austria and finally the material was mixed/mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Devin Townsend, Fates Warning) at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden. Artwork, as to be seen above, was created by longtime visual partner Travis Smith (Katatonia, Riverside, Nevermore).

PSYCHOTIC WALTZ guitarist Dan Rock checked in to comment about the creation and recording process of “The God-Shaped Void” as follows:
“First we’d like to thank all the fans who have supported us over the years. The new album would probably not exist if it were not for the good times and fan support we had on our reunion tours of Europe in 2011/2012. It really sunk in how cool I would be to make new music again, instead of just continually playing the first four albums. With all of us living further apart, especially Devon, it was a much slower process than having all five of us in the same room like we used to. But times change, and the Internet helped quite a bit. Normally, Brian and I would come up with guitar parts at home, whether alone or together. Sometimes we would program a basic drum beat for Norm to latch onto the vibe that we were feeling, and some of those stayed, while others were greatly improved upon by his far superior drum skills. We took our time (obviously) and went one song at a time and rehearsed it and recorded it in the jam room until we were musically happy with it. Then I would upload the individual tracks for Devon to download in his home studio so that he could remix it, and really see what each guy was doing. He was able to add vocals, make edits and rearrange parts that made for sense for him as a singer, and then send it back to us to review, retrack or punch in if needed… we did all of our pre-production mixes that way.”

“I think Devon did a really great job considering the process, but we all wanted to bring in a professional set of outside ears with more experience. We were fortunate enough to have Ulrich Wild come down to San Diego and do all the basic tracking in a little-known local studio called Rarefied. Even better, Jens Bogren had an opening in his schedule at Fascination Street Studios and was able to mix and master it for us. And none of this would have been possible if InsideOutMusic didn’t have the faith in us that they did to release a new record after such a long time. Many thanks go out to everybody who made it possible after all these years. We hope you find it worth the wait!”

A first single and the pre-order for “The God-Shaped Void” in its various formats (Ltd. and Standard CD, 2LP on 180gr. black vinyl as well as limited coloured editions and also Digital Download) will be available as of December 13th, 2019, so stay tuned for more news soon…
