Seriously.

"Live CD's" suck. Never seem to give you a feel for how the band actually plays as over-production takes priority over the actual material.

Or at least they should offer untouched soundboard recordings for download sale. 5 bucks for a recording taken from the soundboard. The technology is cheap (a laptop and a decent in), and with the way MP3 and FLAC are going, it seems like a semi-profitable market.

If there's anything Jam Bands do completely correct, it's definitely this (other than, you know... kicking ASS).

the problem is that often the soundboard recordings sound awful, all of the live energy is missing. The only way to make a really good soundboard recording is to make sure that the mics that are on the amps, drums, vocals, etc are copiously mixed with a whole bunch of overhead and room microphones, so that you can hear the acoustics of the room, the way the instruments and singing react with the space, the crowd noise, etc.

But I'm sure it can be done, it would just need a good mixdown of all the channels.

I'm definitely against the overdubbing in the studio for a live album shit, but the problem is that every fucking band does it, so if you don't do it, 80 percent of the retards that listen to it will be all "man, this band can't play live, killswitch are such better musicians."
