What print magazines do you guys read? I'm going to need some reading material for some upcoming trips. Need suggestions.

Metal Maniacs SUCKS because they are a Nu-metal magazine, and they are obsessed with bands like Sevendust, Korn, Slipnot, Disturbed....

Metal Hammer SUCKS because they are obsessed with bands like My Bloody Valentine, Trivium...

BWBK and Terrorizer are the only ones worth reading. And OUTBURN Magazine is somewhat good. There magazine is full of metal and non-metal reviews and is good for reading. Cheers

Umm, last time I checked they only featured the type of bands that I listed. Maybe they have cleaned up there act, ALOT. Or maybe that issue is a one-time deal. Anyway who cares

I just plain dont buy metal mags, full stop. By the time theyre printed, the news is already outdated, and there are many better reviews and interviews online anyway.

I think the last one I bought was Kerrang! (back when it WAS a metal mag) in 1988, a special issue for the Monsters of Rock festival, with Bruce Dickinson on the front holding a sign saying "DONNINGTON OR BUST!!!" sign. Jesus. That means its been 18 years since I bought that!

If that were true then that would be quite awesome. However, I'm guessing you mean Bullet For My Valentine.

And I've never bought a metal magazine myself. Seems like a waste of money when you have access to the internet. Though yes, you can't take the internet with you on the road (unless you have a nice laptop with wifi).

I stopped trusting the press after Terrorizer (the only one I ended up bothering with), convinced me that 'Worlds Beyond The Veil' by Mithras would be a worthy purchase. "The greatest British album ever recorded", they said. It was, in fact, shit. So I no longer trust reviews.

Terrorizer still wins for content though.

My Bloody Valentine destroys, and they aren't metal...Wrath.

ive never heard that band. but i dont think any metal mag has flawless reviews. in fact...most metal "journalists" dont know their ass from their elbow.

Wow. NFU hasn't heard a band. It's a miracle! Lol :p.

Basically, I found out later that the guitarist/drummer from Mithras was engaged to Terrorizers editor. Funny that, eh? It got album of the month in the same month they reviewed 'Choronzon' and 'A Natural Disaster', which in my opinion must be some sort of sick joke.

Here, you can here what I was duped into buying. 'Lords And Masters' and 'Psyrens' are from that. The latter starts almost promisingly, but... I just think the band is rubbish, tbh. The vocals are so piss-poor. Some ok ideas in there, 'Psyrens' has some nice leads, but... the production is rubbish, hald the 'guitar' bits don't even sound like guitars, the drums sound fake, it's muddled, messy, incoherent... A big disappointment, basically.

Ten out of ten, my ass. Terrorizer wanted me to believe that this is better than, say, 'Revolver', or 'Dark Side Of the Moon' :erk:

(Yes, I'm still bitter I wasted £10 on it :p)

Terrorizer really is the best in terms of metal mags. I used to read Pit but it didn't take long to realize the writing really isn't that great. The reviews suck and the interviews are horrible. Terrorizer seems to have more quality writing. Sometimes the reviews are bogus there as well, probably because they don't want to hurt the bands' feelings in case they want to do an interview. I'll pick up Metal Maniacs or BWBK if there are a lot of bands I like in the issue. Zero Tolerance is OK. I've just read one (about 8 months ago with Darkthrone on the cover) and it was decent.
