METALLICA and the San Francisco Giants will hold the seventh annual "Metallica Night" on April 26 at Oracle Park — formerly AT&T Park — in San Francisco as the Giants take the field against the New York Yankees. A statement on the band's web site reads: "Mark your calendars for the seventh annual 'Metallica Night'! On April 26, 2019 — just before we take off for our annual European summer vacation — we'll celebrate one of our favorite hometown traditions, 'Metallica Night', at Oracle Park with the San Francisco Giants. Members of the band will be on hand to start things off with the National Anthem and first pitch, sticking around all night to cheer on the team against the New York Yankees. As is customary, we'll take part in some of the between-inning fun and games, as well as an exclusive pre-game VIP event." Special Event METALLICA ticket packages include a ticket to the game and a limited-edition METALLICA/Giants reversible knit beanie. A portion of the proceeds from every "Metallica Night" Special Event ticket sold will benefit the band's own All Within My Hands foundation. There will also be a pre-game VIP event in Triples Alley as the band celebrates the release of its very own Blackened American Whiskey and, in partnership with Stone Brewing Co.'s Arrogant Consortia, Enter Night Pilsner. Lars Ulrich, Robert Trujillo and key players from both companies will be on hand for a question-and-answer session. METALLICA frontman James Hetfield said about the yearly event, "We're blessed to be doing this every year and being a part of the vibe here. You know, when times are good, when times are bad, they need the support." Guitarist Kirk Hammett added: "It's great. It's a lot of fun. It's a good opportunity for us to interact with our home team, hometown, and interact with the people of the Bay Area in San Francisco. And for me, it's a lot of fun to be able to play the national anthem." Hammett told ESPN.com that he feels the version of the national anthem he plays is "really unique and different," and it's great that he can play it for his home team and hometown audience. METALLICA has always kept strong ties to the Bay Area sports scene: the band has also performed before Golden State Warriors basketball games and San Jose Sharks hockey games.
