METALLICA was honored in the "Rock Artist Of The year" category at last night's (March 11) iHeartRadio Music Awards at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The San Francisco Bay Area metal legends were nominated alongside FOO FIGHTERS, HIGHLY SUSPECT, PAPA ROACH and ROYAL BLOOD. BON JOVI took home the first-ever "iHeartRadio Icon Award" to celebrate the band's contributions to music over a 35-year career. Also honored were LINKIN PARK for "Rock Album Of The Year" ("One More Light") and FOO FIGHTERS for "Rock Song Of The Year" ("Run"). "I want to thank the three and half decades of fans that have been listening to BON JOVI songs," Jon Bon Jovi said during his band's acceptance speech. "We've been at this game a long time and the only advice I'll tell this incredible generation of incredible talent is just stay true to who you are, and then they're going to make you guys icons too someday." METALLICA recently announced the details of the 2018-2019 North American leg of of its "WorldWired" tour in support of the band's latest album, "Hardwired… To Self-Destruct". The 34-date trek kicks off September 2 in Madison, Wisconsin and runs through March 13 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The "WorldWired" trek was the fifth-highest grossing tour of 2017, with 1.5 million tickets sold and $153 million earned. The band was also the top-selling rock act of the year and had the third best-selling rock album. BON JOVI, which has been eligible to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame since 2008 and was nominated only once before, will finally get the nod on April 14 in Cleveland.
