metallica has tracked down and plans to sue all the people who copied and traded their "no life til leather" demo for copyright infringment. there are several hundred people being sued, and metallica is asking for a total of 9.5 million dollars.

I have mixed emotions about the downloading MP3's (of which I have many), but enough of the lawsuits. I'm sick of people "using" the legal system the way it is - it seems no matter what the reason, people see the legal system as one big slot machine - drop in a quarter and look for the jackpot.

It sounds like Metallica's funds are drying up - and they're looking for a quick fix.
