The second-ever All Within My Hands "Day Of Service" enlisted more than 3,000 volunteers to spend a day working at local food banks across the U.S. Organized by METALLICA's All Within My Hands Foundation, this year's Day Of Service took place on Wednesday, May 22. Once again, METALLICA fans across the U.S. were invited to volunteer for a day at food banks in communities that supported METALLICA on its North American dates over the course of the "WorldWired" tour. More than 50 food banks participated in this year's activities — more than twice as many as last year — and each registered volunteer received a special All Within My Hands T-shirt commemorating the united Day Of Service. METALLICA said in a statement: "Looking through photos from yesterday posted by people all over the country, we can't help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude. "Over 3000 METALLICA fans and All Within My Hands supporters came out strong and showed the kind of remarkable impact that can be made when we unite to work in service of others. "Thank you for making our second annual Day Of Service a success! We hope that yesterday will serve as year-round inspiration and we encourage you to get out and give back in any way that you can, any day of the year. #MetallicaGivesBack #AWMH" In its first six months of operation, All Within My Hands donated more than $750,000 to local food banks around the world — a practice the band and the Foundation continued on METALLICA's recent North American tour. They've donated $10,000 to local food banks in every city and met dedicated people who focus their daily lives on helping others.
