ok this video has been knocking around on kazaa and the usual p2p networks for a couple of days now, and on mtv a lot - I had hopes that metallica might redeem themselves but this just sounds a big old pile of steaming sellout crap. james sounds atrocious, the riffs suck, rob trujillo is the only good thing in that band and he won't last a year (being a metallica bassist and all) lars can at least play double pedal half decently now, but hes an arrogant fuck.
opinions please.

the video SUCKS

the whole shit with the 'no hostage policy' was fucking RETARDED as it plays no part in the fucking video at all.

whatever kirk and gorilla boy sing during the chorus is extremely annoying, and no fucking solo.
fuck metallica.

I like it.

I can't understand how idiots on the radio are calling it "a wall of noise" and "too complex" and complaining "there are too many changes from light to heavy"..... uh, maybe I'm just jaded but it's not that complex of a song dammit! It's pretty heavy for radio but it's still radio friendly for the most part.

I'm looking forward to the album. Dammit.

I think people are being a little too hard on this song. Sure, it's not as good as their old stuff, but it's certainly better than their past several albums, and compared to other mainstream "metal" it's pretty good. The intro is cool, and the "I feel my world shake/Like an earthquake" bit isn't bad.

If this kind of music was played regularly on the radio and TV, I sure as hell wouldn't complain. It would be a drastic improvement over the current state of things.

I like it. The only times I heard the song before were in a shitty live boot and some studio footage where James was singing horribly out of key. So it's better than I thought. The lack of solos bugs me, though.

Everything about it was laughable...just affirms my decision not to buy this album. I've got a friend right now telling me that this album is gonna be great...I just look down in digust. Its sad really.

I think it's quite good, I think James's voice is sounding as strong as ever... it is a touch repetitive but that doens't really bother me cuz i like all the parts anyway. The best bit is the series of chords just before "fuck it all and no regrets" - that is VERY cool.

Awaiting cockmonkey to rock up and say "OMG HAY GUYS THISS IS AN OPETH BAORD GO POST UR FANBOY SHIAT SOMEWERE ELS LOL"

Yeah I heard that video for the first time yesterday. I was just flipping through the channels and decided to stop when I came across MTV and there it was the video for st. anger.

I've never really been much of Metallica fan if at all, but for some odd reason I got some form of anticipation for this song, I'm sure it was more of a curiousity thing than anything else since everthing after there "and justice.." album has been sub-par mainstream crap in my opinion, even the stuff before there black album didn't appeal to me much but thats another thing.

Anyway back to the video: I have only heard this video/song one time so far and all I have to say is that I didn't like it much in fact I thought it was kind of irritating theres certain points in the song when they actaully sound kind of like linken park, or whatever there called, whch made me sort of laugh, hey maybe Metallica got an influence after that show they had with them hehe;and the production is horrible but I'm assuming it was intentional maybe thats the sound they were looking for in order to sound a bit different but only they know why they had it produced like that.

All and all the video to me was bad and because of it I'm not very inspired to hear the actual album, but I don't know maybe I'll download a couple songs once its released and see if what the others sound like.

James sings like shit on this song !! And WTF this drum sound ;(
It sucks , they should be ashamed ..
