According to YLE, METALLICA has donated 25,000 euros to the Veikko and Lahja Hursti Charitable Trust, a charitable organization in Finland that arranges food and events for the needy. The donation is part of the band's All Within My Hands Foundation, which aims to assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported the band for years, as well as encourage participation from fans and friends. All funds raised by the foundation are donated to a cross-section of national and local charities. A longtime advocate of local food banks, METALLICA has donated proceeds from ticket sales from past concert tours to food charities in several countries. METALLICA made the donation to Veikko and Lahja Hursti Charitable Trust when it was in Finland to play two concerts in Helsinki at the Hartwall Arena on May 9 and May 11. The gift came as a complete surprise to Heikki Hursti, the head of the charity. "We are still in shock. My daughter and I just met the band and we took a photo together," he said. Hursti said that when the members of METALLICA learned they would be playing in Finland, they started looking for a suitable organization to support. "They got our contact information somehow and told us they wanted to make a donation," Hursti said. Founded in February 2017, All Within My Hands Foundation is a public non-profit organization dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services.
