METALLICA Tops POLLSTAR's LIVE75 Chart Sixth Time This Year

METALLICA has topped Pollstar's LIVE75 chart for a sixth time this year, based on a sold-ticket average of 47,342 from shows at three stadiums and two outdoor concert sites in Europe. The band's two September shows at San Francisco’s Chase Center also contribute to the average. METALLICA's Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadion was the lowest attended European show of the five, with 48,755 fans; the best-attended stop was at Prague's Letnany Airport with 68,474 in attendance for the open-air event. The spring/summer 2019 leg of METALLICA's European tour commenced on May 1 at Estádio do Restelo in Lisbon, Portugal and included 25 dates across the continent, closing at Mannheim, Germany's Maimarktgelände on August 25. The trek visited 20 countries in total, with stop in cities METALLICA didn't play on part one of the European "WorldWired" leg, which was an indoor arena tour. The "WorldWired" tour has played more than 130 shows across the world since its 2016 kick-off. Last November, drummer Lars Ulrich told The Mercury News that the trek will last through early 2020. The San Francisco Bay Area metal giants have been touring in support of their latest album, "Hardwired… To Self-Destruct", which came out in November 2016.
