I'd say it's got to do with them cancelling the tours of Brazil and Japan

Bands cancel tours all the time. It doesn't mean they're splitting up.

theres huge rumors that the cancelled shows through brazil etc is a precursor to news next week that they are disbanding.

As soon as I heard they had cancelled all the shows overseas I immediatley figured they would end up cancelling their Australian shows. A few people have been quickly trying to sell their tickets on ebay before the news breaks. If the cant finish tours in countries they are already close to due to exhaustion, why would they be bothered flying endless hours to Australia to play here. Mid summer no less.

Basically the excuse of Metal and Physical exhaustion is said to be caused by massive tension within the band, and many radio stations in San Fran have been talking about the impending split for a few days now, just waiting on confirmation from the Metallica camp.

Rumors say word from Metallica could come on Monday.

Something weird is up, a band that did 300 shows a year every year for who knows how long does not get exhaustion after 70 shows with huge breaks inbetween, while staying in 5 star hotels etc.

I just assumed James started drinking again...

I don't think they will split, but something is definately up, and it has nothing to do with 'exhaustion'. Perhaps one of the guys is having family troubles or something, or maybe James is back on the booze, or Kirk is on the drugs again, or maybe Rob is not comfortable in the band, who knows. The rumours that they are cancelling the South American and Japanese tours doesn't effect their Aussie tour (yet), so I hope all will be well by early next year.

Oh crapola!!! I forked out all that money for MetClub membership to go into the lottery for a meet and greet pass... if they break up before I get my meet and greet pass I'll be pissed.
