METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich recently joined Roger "Rog" Bennett and Michael "Davo" Davies of "Men In Blazers", a scrappy soccer-analysis show on the NBC Sports network, where he created a team comprised of musicians with none other than Meat Loaf in net. Ulrich selected a founding member of one of his favorite bands, DEEP PURPLE's legendary axeman Ritchie Blackmore. "He's too cool to play anywhere else," the drummer said of Blackmore at center forward. IRON MAIDEN bassist Steve Harris was picked to be the right winger while Damon Albarn of BLUR/GORILLAZ was chosed to anchor the defense, along with the Gallagher brothers. "Nowadays you can have Noel and Damon together because they've become best friends," Ulrich said. "But you can't have Noel and Liam," the hosts chimed in. You can watch the segment at NBCSports.com. METALLICA's tenth studio album, "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct", is scheduled for a November 18 release. The long-awaited follow-up to 2008's "Death Magnetic" consists of two discs, containing a dozen songs and nearly 80 minutes of music. The deluxe version of the album will feature a bonus disc containing a number of cover songs that the band has recorded over the past few years, as well as a live set recorded at Rasputin's in Berkeley, California on Record Store Day 2016 and a live version of the new song "Hardwired" recorded at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. METALLICA will next appear at Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit in Mountain View, California on October 22 and October 23.
