Michael Kamen passes away at 55

He was the composer for Metallica's S&M right? He also did the soundtrack to Highlander (the instrumental parts alongside Queen's songs). Good soundtrack, good film.

RIP.

He also did the Lethal Weapon soundtracks, conducted Eric Clapton's Philharmonic Night and daddy said he did stuff with Pink Floyd also. And I'm certain he was a lot more prolific than that. I'm quite surprised at the muted reaction to this...

Man, this guy was all over the place... I'm starting to wonder why more haven't responded...

Apathy?

Or ignorance?

Ignorance over here. I'm somewhat familiar with a little of his work, but not really. Sucks he's dead and all, I just don't have much to add.

Perhaps because "Nothing Else Matters" was the beginning of the end for Metallica, and people are blaming ol' Kamen?

Pish posh, the black album isn't that bad... hey, it was the first CD I ever purchased, so I have to give it a little credit for introducing me to the metal genre.

I looked up Kamen's work the other night, I found out he's done quite a bit of work with artists near and dear to me, like David Bowie, Pink Floyd, and others. He seems to be one of them behind the scenes guys, no?
