Favela of My Dismay
What activities, products, philosophies, or miscellaneous stimuli have gone from nada to prada in your day to day life?

One that has curried favor in my loins as of late is Tapatio. This product is fanfuckingtastic. No heat mind ye, just pure flavor. Livens up plenty a dish. Throw it on eggs, meat, a hooker's ass, whatever suits. Just pure flava.

Never cared for it in my youth. Chalked it up as shit hot sauce without giving it much of a chance to prove otherwise.

My dog. When I escaped the ex girlfriend, she basically said "if you dont take him, he's going to a shelter because I cant handle two dogs by myself."

I reluctantly took him. Not because I didnt love him, but because I was moving to a 3rd floor apartment. I didnt want to have to deal with constantly taking him out, not being able to disappear for a few days, etc.

That dog rescued me, I tell ya. I look forward to seeing him when I get home. I love taking him to outdoor eateries and to the dog park. The kids love him. He makes me smile. And these days, that means a lot.

Oh, and the crazy bitch ended up getting a 2nd dog.

All threads should be dog threads.

OT: Spinach. Never liked it at all growing up. Now, I eat it every day with my breakfast egg (plus cheese and hot sauce).

Yeah I had no idea how good it was until I hit thirtysomething. My diet used to be great, now kind of medium/okay, but at least I eat a giant pile o' green leaves every morning.

imma get a dog, help me choose a dog

From my vast research on the subject.

Vast = Maybe a dozen hard hours. I did think of walking these fleabags as a side hustle after all. That's been completely trounced after my neighbor's barking dog annoyed me last week. Im good for a good couple months once more.

Anyhow,

If I had room id be 100% set on a doberman. Super intelligent, look methull af, have some utility as a guard dog. If ye want a pussy dog, with no utility, just get a cat.

Small dogs Id be open to, but not limited to...

German Schnauzer
Beagle
Boston Terrier
Jack Russell Terrier

Some of these shit bags are uber energetic, have high prey drive, and also can be noisy little shits.

YMMV

I've been waiting all day for the Ellestin Dog Thread but I guess here it is!

Big, medium, small, breed, mutt, old, young, whatever. All dogs need their human.

My personal preference is to adopt a large mutt puppy from a shelter.

Current dog was allegedly a Pitbull/Shepherd mix. Narp. She's 75% Anatolian and 25% coyote, best I can tell. Supposed to top out at 70 pounds max. Uhh... narp. 90 pounds and she is still growing.

How it started.

How it's going.

If I were to get a dog, I'd probably get another rat terrier in hopes that it would be as amazing as the one I had as a kid/teen/young adult. No formal training but it was like he knew everything you said, and he behaved. He smiled with his teeth on command, but he'd also prance around the yard smiling (on his own) at the outdoor cats. It was fascinating to watch him think and act on his own. His name was Bruce. Bruce dreams are some of the happiest ones I have.

The black lab we got after Bruce died was sweet, but an idiot.

I had a dog like that once, and I remember your photos of Bruce... on Myspace or Facebook or...?! I remember the smiling photos at least.

Anyhow, Beezlebub (not a typo) was a German Shepherd / coyote, and she just "got" it. No training at all, still knew about 45 commands. This dog understood nuance. Unreal animal.

RE: spinach. Tis good, but I prefer kale...and I'm not even a hippie. Incredible texture.

RE: dogs. Black labs are the most lovable doofuses (doofi?) on the planet. This was a few years ago (IT'S A BABY SEAL).20160611_210341.jpg

I think I'll get a dog at some point in the next year or two, never had one. It's either a dog or a child, and pretty sure I'd prefer a dog.
