Mikael Stanne vs Anders Fridén

A bit unfair maybe, because this is the DT forum..
Just wanna see the results..

Mikael Stanne. Although they are both pretty bad on Skydancer, Mikael is clearly better on The Gallery than Anders on The Jester Race. The difference is pretty much increasing album by album, with Mikael's growls getting better and Ander's going from bad to worse. As for clean vocals, Mikael is clearly the winner. Anders has no power in his voice, it's just annoying whining.

It's not a totally unfair question. With many band its "true fans" tend to like the first lineup the most. I don't think that is the case with DT but anyway... I vote for Stanne of course...

I have to go with Stanne on this one. Even though I personally prefer to listen to In Flames, when discussing singing talent, I must concede Anders Friden simply doesn't win. (I actually like his clean vocals, though I seem to be in the minority.)

his vocals are good on recordngs.
mikaels are also good on recordings
anders vocals suck live and well.......mikaels.....JUST DONT!

This is too hard of a question for me. Anders and Mikael are two of my favorite singers. Im not sure who id say has the better voice but stanne i think writes the best lyrics in metal.

Mikael without a shadow of a doubt. Every album hes done better, he has a better clean voice etc.etc.

This IMO is like asking which place is colder - The North Pole or London?

one of the best death metal singers on record and live
anders is good too but compared to mikael he is just one of few
but his new clean vox on r2r are better than I expect,live hm he sucks clean
but on the IF board there was a thread with the question for the dreamband and most guys picked up stanne as singer
so most guys like his voice
anders is ok but there are better ones than him but i dont want another singer as him in IF(and no other than mikael in DT)

stanne has always been a better vocalist. he's one of the best out there. his superoirity over anders has become even more apparent after the last few in flames albums.

Yeah, I agree with TheWanderer, If we were talking about 3 or 4 yeas ago, this would be a much harder question for me, but right now Stanne takes it easily.

Agreed, 4-5 years ago Id have a tough time deciding but nowadays Mikael is at the top in the overall vocal department. Friden has really let himself go.

For me it's a tie, they both have their strong and weak sides. Anders clean vocals on R2R aren't that good from time to time. And I just can't get adjusted to Stannes vocals on Haven....I think they sound wierd, almost like a shout/growl hybrid... it doesn't work.

....I voted for Anders just for even out the results =)
