In a brand new interview with the Dallas Observer, former DREAM THEATER and current THE WINERY DOGS drummer Mike Portnoy was asked if he has ever considered writing an autobiography. "I have, actually," he replied. "Right after I left DREAM THEATER, I was approached by several different people about doing that. I passed on the idea because everything was so sensitive still. Those first couple months, whatever I would say would turn into a Blabbermouth headline and blow up into this big, dramatic thing. So, I was really gun-shy at that stage to do a book. But now that the smoke has cleared, it's coming up on four years since I left the band, maybe the time is right. The co-author that I'm friends with, who has done many other books with musicians, keeps pestering me to do one. So, we'll see."Portnoy, who co-founded DREAM THEATER more than 27 years ago, abruptly quit the band in September 2010 while on tour with AVENGED SEVENFOLD. He has since been replaced by Mike Mangini (ANNIHILATOR, EXTREME, JAMES LABRIE, STEVE VAI).Portnoy played on AVENGED SEVENFOLD's 2010 album, "Nightmare", following the death of that band's drummer, Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, and toured with them for the entire second half of that year.Portnoy announced his departure from ADRENALINE MOB in June 2013 due to "scheduling conflicts." He has since been replaced by A.J. Pero (TWISTED SISTER).THE WINERY DOGS' self-titled debut album sold around 10,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 27 on The Billboard 200 chart.
