Mike Varney interview

I had many Sharpnel and Magna Carta records in my collection. Varney is a great support indeed, and I enjoyed the interview, thanks.

Only one thing bothers me, an I quote:
After having their careers jump-started by their Shrapnel connection, guitarist Marty Friedman joined MTV staple band Megadeth,

Why do they mean by MTV staple?

Wyven are you saying you don't understand the quote? The term "staple" means that at that time Megadeth was always played/featured on MTV.

I lived in Marin county during this time. Mike used to hang out at Bannanas Music Store. Lemans was a great local band at the time as well as Cocophony.

He was a lucky enough man to have parents with enough money to loan him what he needed the start Shrapnel. Probably the best investment they could've made.

That Jeff Burkhart is a fucking moron! Here's what he writes in the intro to the interview:

"In the early 1980s, heavy metal was a wounded beast. Hard rock powerhouses such as Led Zeppelin and the Who were running on fumes, and hopelessly drug-addicted Ozzy Osbourne and Aerosmith were all too happy to get high on those fumes."

Yea right :Smug:. There were so many good releases in the early 80s I had a hard time trying to keep up with it!! That guy does not know shit about the history of metal.

I will never understand why magazines assign articles like this to a total ignoramus as Mr Jeff Burkhart! :yuk:

Never heard the expression before thus my question. I wonder if that is good or bad to remember for Megadeth.
