Monitoring while recording gtrz/DI's - hardware vs. software?

Been thinking lately adding a hardware pod or something for the monitoring purposes (countryman amp output) as I think the roundtrip on monitoring via software (podfarm, tseX50 etc..) causes problems timing wise, when doing super tight rhythms fe.

Even thou on 32/64 sample buffers offer only couple ms of roundtrip, still it's somewhat off many times..

So what's your go to chain or method for monitoring and recording DI's for later reamp?

So far I've been using software monitoring and there wasn't a timing issue...at least I don't think so...maybe it turns out I'm a much tighter player than I thought and until know I sucked at rhythm guitar because of the latency! ;)
Seriously though, I never thought of that. I got a countryman too a while back so I'll try using my PODxt for monitoring next time to see if there's any difference.

DI and Pod Farm. Pod Farm is great for tracking guitars to capture DI's. Makes it easier to focus on getting the best takes and less on the amp you are using.

Can't stress how important this is; although you do need to go into a project knowing what you are going to do down the line.

i use *RME totalmix with no latency, works a charm.

go grap a DI into your converter :)

i also run my rig at 32 samples so latency is not something a notice on a daily basis.

offcourse this setup requires a desktop machine with a pcie card to get there, i use the RME raydat for that.

i can truly say that considering reliability i dont know of any better card out there than what RME makes.

Converters are another deal altogether.
