Listen to Morbid Angel's Opening of the Gates from Gateways to Annihilation.

It has a part with insanely fast bassdrums... and I mean ISANELY fast.. about 2 mins into the tune.....

Are these programmed or something, i've heard rumors....?

I actully think they were programmed, but Trey said it wasn't a big deal as Pete can easily play it anyway.

That drum sound gets ragged on alot, but I like it. I like the production of that whole album. Heretic on the other hand....

from what i remember, this came up on the derek roddy board. pete told derek that trey kept telling him to play 16ths, but pete couldnt because its at something stupid like 280bpm. so pete played triplets instead, and then trey messed with them after and added the extra hits to make them 16ths. apparently pete wasnt happy with it though.

Pete Sandoval rules. He can definitely play that fast. This is the guy that all other death metal drummers look up to. Check MA out live and see for yourself.

When I first heard "Gateways...", I thought somebody got a little crazy with Beat Detective. Then I remembered that Trey is a genius, and that this was obviously done on purpose. I love this record, and "Opening Of The Gates" is a great song.
