I listened to it last night. The whole thing.
My conclusion after listening. "Fuck?"
What, what WHAT???? My Brothers, ANDO, My Sisters...Help me understand the music of Mortiis.
35 minutes of very, very repititive synth...BUT! There must be something more to it...I can feel it.

IMO, "Stargate" was worse than all others, well, my friends(who liked old Mortiis) say that "smell of rain" is shit(I haven't heard), and I believe them, cause those who didn't like old Mortiis, like it.

Smell of rain is definitely a change in direction, but is far better musicaly - he's a better song writes now. I have yet to get crypt of the wizard, is it good?
IMO it's the best. It contains 10 tracks (originally released as singles, if I remember correct). If the length of tracks (and that those are getting dull cause of length) is only reason you not to like Mortiis, I would recommend Crypt of the Wizard to you. Have you heard Vond, Mortiis sideproject? Selvmord(means suicide) is great (pretty much like Crypt of the Wizard, I think) and Dark River not so great album.

I don't mind the length, its just his earlier albums while good for relaxing never seem to go anywhere. The timing sounds dodgy a lot of the time, and IMO much of it isn'twell written.
But cheers, I'll look into the side project

A role model to mankind:
IMO "Ånden som gjorde oprør" is Mortiis' best record. Two songs, 41 minutes! I also have "The stargate" and I think it has some decent stuff, but also some crap. The first song is great! "Født til å herske" is pretty boring if you ask me. I have it on bronze vinyl w/poster and are willing to trade it for the right trade if any of you should be interested!
"Smell of rain" is kind of techo crap! I heard he released a new album, so I went to cdnow to listen and all the songs were Umfpr, umfpr, umfpr all the way!
I also have Vond "The dark river" and it's terrible IMO, but that's just my opinon. I have it on vinyl and are willing to trade it! Only played once (to tape it).

I like The Smell Of Rain alot. It could do with cleaner production but apart from that the album is great.
Mortiis himself has said the stuff prior to The Smell Of Rain is not good.. and I agree.
Hopefully his future stuff will expand on what he did on The Smell Of Rain.
