For a first "heavy" concert it's better to step aside and just observe everything that could possibly be going on.
If you want to join the rougher part of the public, be prepared for the unexpected. :p
Everything depends on the night itself, but the biggest part of this vid is true.
Those tips to not carry wallets, cellphones, keys are handy. If I take money with me it are always notes and they're in my bra or pockets.
Most of the time I'm wearing tight pants for the pockets, so my cellphone will most likely not fall out.

My guide. Stand near the back, have a beer and enjoy the gig from there because youll be able to hear and see the band better. Which i find more enjoyable. Not a pit person unless i see somebody acting like a cock in there, then ill go n be a cock to them because they're making it unenjoyable for others.

Think I'll come to concerts with you:lol: I'm scared of pitting but and would much rather just stay away from them but that's what has put me off going to Metal concerts cause I'm unsure if there was a less crowded part you go like go and sit near a bar and drink all night:kickass:

Atleast I knew when I went to see Depeche Mode in concert and I was stood right up at the front to the barrier nothing like a pit was ever going to happen.

I love the pits, it's great when the wee young fucks bounce of me and I scowl at them, they always say sorry and move that wee bit further away

Yeah being slighty heavy built does have it's advantages, but in saying that I wouldn't have no hesitation in stepping in if someone was going way over the score and pull them right out and tell them to jack it in and cool the jets as you are hurting people with your idiocy

The 2 best pits I can honestly say that I have seen and been in was SLAYER in 1994 in the Barrowlands, that gig was intense and brutal as fuck, I kinda fucked myself bad, but it was worth it

Evile in the Cathouse when support to Exodus, I have never seen a pit like that in the Cathouse in all my life, I was blown away at how good that pit was, that was the 1st time I saw the lads play and I was mighty fuckin impressed

I'll second that.

I've never been a pitting person, and I never will. Personally, I don't see the point. I don't think it's fun, cool, or brutal. Just silly. I like my teeth and I like my face. I don't like fat topless smelly guys and kicking kids who think they're metalz.

Tbf, even at a metal gig there aren't pits if you're at the barrier. You'd be more concerned with getting crushed by all the crazy fuckers behind you :headbang:

Yeah but pits are great fun, although some people do take it too far, so watch out for those people

Haha, youve got it sussed then! Pits arent scary, they're just full of kids so youd be fine in one.

Any pit I've been in that contained kids, the kids soon left as it kinda got a bit mental. Usually me, my male friends, my female cousin who soon disappears from fear and just random "metal" guys who presume they are stronger than me and then get their arse handed to them. I don't pit cause it's "MEHTULLZZZZ" I pit because it's a rush and I enjoy it mare than just standing about, I done that the first 2 years of gigs and still will if the gig calls for just relaxing and stuff, but I love getting in about the crowd and since I can't stand near the actual 'crowd' aka the squashed swaying mass of people as I take a panic attack, pits do me fine.

I think it's yet again a case of each to their own.

I'm going to a gig in Mars (Hypocrisy) they are playing at this little bar and i wanna get in pretty close, so i guess i will be pitting weather i like it or not yeah?

If it wasn't Hypocrisy, i would most likely stand a bit back, drinking a beer and watching the gig.

Me too - when I go to gigs, I'm always front and centre, kind of a one man breakwater, and yes I'm a fat bastard as well, which helps. when the circle pit gets going, people are bouncing off me left right and centre, and usually every stage diver manages to land on me too.

Also, strangely enough, the two craziest pits I've ever been in was Slayer at Donington 1992 (my 18th birthday as it happened), and Exodus at Camden Underworld two years ago (also with Evile supporting).:headbang:

Slayer pits when I saw them when mediocre, gutting really.

Haha Slayer fans are the funniest at gigs. "WAAAA SLAYER!!! Its not a pit its a war zone". Ive seen things much more violent than those pits in primary school.

Oh I agree with youse 2, Slayer pits are rotten and I will tell you why, because it's the young kids of today that are trying to recreate the intense pits of yesterday year, because they have heard tales of their elders regarding the brutality of the Slayer pits, if you noticed I made mention of a pit of nearly 16 years ago and my esteemed friend Motorhead man mention of a pit in 1992

This was when Slayer where a brutal band and not the sideshow that they are today

Motorheadman, I was there at Donnington in 92' and I didn't join in as I was too far back but what I saw was brilliant, I'll never forget the ammount of the bottles of piss flying through the air into the crowds, I'll never forget the atmoshphere went flat as a pancake when Thunder came on, it was like the mother of all come downs

:lol::lol::lol:

Chuck Taylors suck for thrash pits. someone WILL drive their heel into the top of your foot and it sucks. get some good boots. they last forever and the high sturdy top will keep you from tripping.

I pit in Nike Air's/boots/Vans Slip Ons, Slip On's are a failure, I remember diving about the floor at Killswitch Engage in 2007 cause I was so drunk I practically walked out of them in the pits. If I wear wee slip on shoes and I want to pit I tend to just take them off like I did in the Down 'Bury Me In Smoke' pit, was so funny seeing me going round this pit holding my dress down with one hand, shoes in the other and trying to not fall over every two seconds.
