In 2014, BLACK STAR RIDERS and THIN LIZZY vocalist Ricky Warwick decided to record two new solo records funded through the popular PledgeMusic crowdfunding system. The results are two fan and critically acclaimed releases, "Hearts On Tree" and "When Patsy Cline Was Crazy (And Guy Mitchell Sang The Blues)". During the campaign for these two albums, Ricky would record updates for those who supported him in the campaign. Staging most of these recordings in the stairwell of his home in Los Angeles, the fans quickly dubbed Ricky as the "Stairwell Troubadour". Ricky's acoustic covers of a number of tracks became very popular among the fan community. So much so that when the two solo albums were completed, there was a lot of feedback asking him to consider recording some of these covers for a release. So, early in 2015, Ricky launched a new campaign to fund his album of covers. The best part was that the fans get to choose the tracks that are included on the album from a selection Ricky put together. One of the tracks that has already proven itself quite popular is the Eddie Cochran classic "Summertime Blues". Working on a wave of studio born inspiration, Ricky thought that the sound would be perfect with an addition from an old friend. Enter Lemmy from MOTÖRHEAD. Ricky toured with MOTÖRHEAD when he fronted THE ALMIGHTY and Lemmy and Ricky have been friends ever since. So when the call went out for Lemmy's participation in the "Stairwell Troubadour" album, he didn't even hesitate. Ricky says about Lemmy's participation: "To have such an iconic performer be a part of this album is a dream come true. I have loved MOTÖRHEAD for decades and having Lemmy contribute to my solo release is a big one off of my personal bucket list!" An audio sample of the "Summertime Blues" cover featuring Warwick and Lemmy can be streamed below. Ricky's campaign for the "Stairwell Troubadour" album is an ongoing process.
