Motara spawned from what was originally a side-project of Grahamstown metal band, Breach. It is a 5 piece metal act that draws inspiration from various influences such as Dragonforce, Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, and Mastadon. We have played in Breach for 2 and a half years before deciding to branch out into Motara having much experience in touring and studio work. We have been together now for 3 years and have toured twice and played in various festivals. Our first tour, entitled “Steel Zamiel Tour” was during December 2006 where we played in Johannesburg and Pretoria and supported by bands such as Deity’s Muse, Agro, Warthane, Choking!Hazard and Visus. We were offered a management label, and on top of that an endorsement by “Dean Guitars”. Both of which had to be declined due to the decision by the band to take a much awaited break as some of the band members were leaving due to work commitments. After arriving back at Grahamstown beginning of 2007, we decided to continue playing as the members still were enthusiastic and wanted to continue gigging. The band has subsequently replaced the members that left and are fired up to take on the world. Our second tour, entitled “Roadkill Tour”, took the band to Pretoria, Johannesburg and Bloemfontein during December of 2007. We made many new fans and friends along the way and played with awesome bands such as Facing the Gallows, Unforsaken Truth, All Will Fall and Chromium. During Roadkill tour we also recorded a 6 track EP entitled “Talbragar”, which will be out soon for download. Motara pushes the limits of musicianship, song-writing and energy in our music. It is a blend of hard hitting riffs, lightning quick guitar work and powerful drumming. It is as much a spectacle to watch as it is to listen to. The stage performance is one of high energy and demands the attention of the audience. Motara offers the “moshing crowd” material that they would appreciate as well as the careful “muso” listeners at the back. There is something for everyone! Now all bear witness to the DARK MARCH OF MOTARA!
