There really should be one. Unless it already exists, but I searched and couldn't find dick. Sometimes I feel weird being a gear whore but then I also know that EVERY FUCKING MUSICIAN EVER does the same stupid shit that I do. There is comfort in company. And since I'm too drunk to make coherent sense I'm just going to post random photos of shit I have/had/whatever:

Okay now it's your turn BBBBBBBBBBBBZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZSSSSSSTTTTTTT

Nice Nadrian!

Here are my goodies...
Peavey XXX with Vader 2x12. not pictured are a Korg Pitchblack tuner and an ISP Decimator.

Ampeg VH140c, Peavey XXX (before I modded that front plate), Rack (Digitech GSP 1101, Korg DTR1000, Rocktron Velocity 300)

Took out the neck pickup and left it bare. Took out everything other than the bridge pickup (Dimarzio X2N) imput jack, and a volume switch. Still need to wire it up correctly. It's my beater.

here's the chain:
jazz 3 xl (black or red) OR occasionally, ebow plus

peavey rotor ex. the best guitar. i upgraded it with a duncan distortion in the bridge and a duncan jazz in the neck
↓
korg pitchblack tuner
Dmwn6.jpg

↓
digitech bad monkey overdrive (it's like a tube screamer but with more gain and a 2-band eq. i don't use this in tfs but when i play ~heavy metal~ i do)
XfhW3.jpg

↓
boss ce-3 chorus (my "SECRET WEAPON". this fucking thing rules, the best chorus)
7GPXT.jpg

↓
behringer vd400 vintage delay (this is MUCH BETTER than a really cheap pedal has any right to be. a+++)
SJcQv.jpg

↓
jet city jca100h 100w head with matching 4x12 cab. it has an fx loop but i don't use it because fx loops are for nerds. everything goes into the front always

and that's it, i have no need for anything else, except i'm considering maybe buying a reverb pedal at some point

also, bass:

ltd b205sm fl (catchy name). my fretless, 5-string nerd bass that i'm still pretty bad at playing

i also have a bunch of various acoustics and old crappy guitar/basses and pedals i don't use, of course. the above is the stuff i DO use

I like how you can tell in the design meeting for that one it began with "alright dudes, we need something like the Explorer, but with more awesome, like an Explorerer even," and then by the end everyone was going :headbang: and moshing. That's why Peavey is fucking cool.

For 99% of my gigs/recording it's:

Green Nordy or fretless Bordwell -> large pedalboard -> Mesa 400 -> (2) Bag End 1x12" cabs

Pretty much everything else is for fun, I'm really becoming The Collector at this point. I do plan on unloading a big chunk in a few months, but most days I'd rather just connect 5 oscillating fuzz pedals in a row and destroy my hearing. See? Fun.

fuck,

i just realized this exists:

cO188.jpg

epi explorer gt -- it's a smaller explorer in a real neat worn black finish and you can get it for less than $200

i don't need this but i really want it (any other musician ever felt like this before???)

edit: also if i buy this it'll look like both lethal and the forever season are fully endorsed by gibson/epiphone

I cant remember the last time I wasnt frothing over some random piece of musical gear Ill never use.
Several times a day for me at times. I've been scouring eButt and random forums for a Malekko 600 Dark for 2 months now.

Fun fact: I already own one, but REALLY WANT A BACKUP. :loco:

i randomly stumbled upon this video on youtube:

and decided that hey! maybe my old ibanez rg421 deserves a bit of a makeover. it's your archetypal "BLACK IBANEZ", the most boring-ass guitar ever made. i did not know any better back when i bought it.

today it's dented, scratched, with a broken string or two, and has been pretty much left to rot in our rehearsal space. but there's nothing really wrong with it, it's just ugly and boring.

so i'm thinking i'm going to paint it a nice shade of green and add a pickguard. maybe put a single coil or two in there.

anyway.

it is a basswood body and rosewood fretboard. no tremolo. it currently has two humbuckers, the terrible ibanez V8 and the even worse ibanez V7

NAD or anyone else with an opinion about guitar pickups: what would you put in a guitar like that to make it sound warmer and hotter and just plain better?

i imagine my duncan distortion/duncan jazz combination, which i love in my mahogany peavey, won't sound at all the same in a basswood ibanez

I say if you like the Duncans you have in the Peavey, I say fuckit and give them a whirl in the RG. Won't sound the same, probably still sound good. Or go with some random selection of any other Duncan humbuckers out there.

If you wanted to use our poop I'd say a set of NVH hot winds would probably work for you. Ours are more expensive than typical Duncan and DiMarzio though, it'd be around $200 (plus mandatory 800% Eurotax) for the set.

Sometimes putting a bunch of $$$ into a cheap instrument yields awesome results, but then sometimes you end up with some really expensive crap. If the RG plays good though, why the hell not?

so i'm thinking i'm going to paint it a nice shade of green

what

Dis will love it though

Other than that, great idea. Forever and always a decent cheap ni frills guitar.

It's a REALLY good thing I don't own a lot of instruments because I won't ever be able to sell any of them.

Look for used PRS pickups. Those things are killer, especially for the price. If youre willing to spend the cash, look at the slash signature pickups. Yes yes, I know, signature stuff is inherently unattractive but those things rule. One last suggestion would be whatever is in my stock 2010 Gibson LP Studio. I have no idea whats in it but god damn I love em.

also i'm actually considering tesla pickups because they're dirt cheap (made in korea) yet still seem pretty damn decent. and it's fun to try something totally new.

here's a guy demoing an ibanez rg with one of their "heaviest" pickups

good things about guitar:
* works, plays decently
* made in japan; reasonable quality
* rare model, the rg421 was only made for about a year before being replaced by the lower-quality rg321
* darkthrone sticker

bad things about guitar:
* the pickups are terrible ibanez stock shit
* it's a black rg
* almost everything is nicked and dented and screws are missing or replaced
* mysterious white stain
* just look at the pictures

what i'm going to do to it:
* dismantle it, sand it down, fill in all the dents with wood putty, paint it a nice color
* order a custom pick guard
* switch out the pickups for better ones, probably teslas
* fix all the minor hardware shit
