Okay, here's a pure dork thread about one of my favorite sounds in the world aside from drums. Ah, today I will be thrilled with the sounds of supersonic fighter jets flying about the air at the air show nearby! The sounds of the AV-8B Harrier, the F22 Raptor and F18 Hornet will be the highlight of my afternoon! Damn...I'm a geek! There were some test flights yesterday and I was just so in awe. Okay, geeking done.....over and out!:loco: :loco: :loco:
 
Here in San Francisco the first week in October we have something called "Fleet Week" when the Navy is in town & the Blue Angels fly overhead & put on air shows.
Those planes are friggin' loud.They make you jump when you're sitting around the house or are at work but are truly asight to behold!

Where I grew up in Watsonville Ca.,there's this annual event called the "Fly in".It's a show of vintage airplanes,you name it its there with alot of cool air shows.I lived right by that tiny aorport wich is all little one egimen planes peopel own for joy flights.I would just hang out in my backyard & watch the air show it was cool.

Yeah we had that a few weeks ago here in NY with the Blue Angels during Fleet Week...the Air Show was awesome over Jones Beach in Long Island...my son who is not yet 2 loved it...I thought the sound would scare him but he loves planes even more now :)
 
I'm soooooo jealous.... I'm one of those air show geeks, I must say, but do they even have them here in California? I haven't been to one since Edwards Air Force base had one million of years ago.... BOOOOOOOO I love me some jets!!
 
Well they used to have them at El Toro and Norton, but those bases were victims of the axe... I believe MCAS Miramar down San Diego way still has them, but it has been too long since I went to one.

Yep. Spent many an afternoon sitting on the carport roofs watching them practice during the week leading up to the show.

And I had a Stealth fly right over me as I was driving back to work from my lunch break one day. By the time I could pull over and get out my camera, it was a speck in the distance.

Yea those Stealth planes are a trip! I never had time to even think of a camera - but it was enough to see it - not an everyday occurrence that's for sure!

Yeah, it was pretty damn cool seeing it fly as low as it was that day. Man, that would have been a killer pic if I had been ready. I got a pic of one on the ground at an air show in Massachussetts a few years ago, but it just wasn't the same.
