Here is a link to a great company that insures musical instruments at the gig and anywhere in the world. No more worries about bringing that nice guitar to the gig if one has this policy. I know that I will be purchasing it since my renters policy only covers the instruments while in my home. Plus the rates are affordable for everyone.

This is good info!

There is a rating called AM Best which rates insurers. I will try and look this company up and make sure they are legit.

Would you mind telling us how much its costing you to insure your instrument, and could you give us the approximate value of your instrument? This will provide us a reasonable idea on how much it will cost us to insure ours. :)

Yes, this is a very reputable company. I found out about it from a local FT musician who is very respected in Minneapolis. He mentioned it in a book that he recently wrote. Anyway, I posted this link because I know how hard it can be for musicians to get insurance on their instruments for professional use. I went without it for years because Lloyds of London was about the only company that offered it and they are ridiculously expensive. Music Pro also offers insurance but a few years ago they required ASCAP membership to get a policy. This may have changed however.

Clarion is an AA rated company and is based out of New York. They are a growing company and not that well known yet.

The rates are around $1.50 per $100 but much less if you are a member of the musicians union. The agent I spoke with said it is about .49 cents per $100 for union members. However, I live in MN and the rates may be less than what you may pay in expensive California. There is an online application on the site that will easily calculate your rate.

This really is valuable and important info and definitely worthwhile. I have all my babies insured already and it just gives you that extra peace of mind when travelling with your gear. It really is something worth checking into. It really does not cost that much and would be priceless should that dreadful day ever come that something happens to your stuff. A of mine had someone break into her apartment and stole all her bases. That's when insurance saves the day too. You just never know.
