King Crimson-In the Court of the Crimson King,Islands,Three of a perfect pair

pretty good, I think the most essential Beatles album from a prog standpoint is of course:

Sgt. Peppers lonely hearts club band.

Glass Hammer - Shadowlands

The Flower Kings - Adam & Eve

Rainwound - Shrouded Destiny Demo (hehe it's true though)

Dreamscape - End of Silence

Ayreon - Dream Sequencer, or Human Equation, etc..

I guess all I can say is, good prog rock is hard to find. :erk:

i think that the redundancy we are seeing is a result of the crackdown on off-topic chatter. i think that is why we are seeing all the recycled threads. now i dont feel so bad for making everyone suffer through my tired poll.......

We seriously need to come up with a plan, and soon. This forum is turning into ruin. (I'm only saying that because probably every thread anyone comes up with now has already been made, and we can't have off-topic stuff either.)

Regardless of all the assholes on this board, they are all cool assholes nonetheless; I want to be able to come back here in like, 1 year or so and see if it's still any good. Yeah, I'm worried.

- we need a plan, seriously

Really? There's LOTS of good prog... though IMO I wouldn't include The Flower Kings or Glass Hammer in a list of good prog.

Rush are great.

What about Genesis? ELP? Jethro Tull?

Anyway 10 albums I'd consider essential would be....

1) Close to the Edge- Yes
2) In the Court of the Crimson King- King Crimson
3) Moonmadness- Camel
4) Dark Side of the Moon- Pink Floyd
5) Days of Future Passed- Moody Blues
6) Moving Pictures- Rush
7) In Absentia- Porcupine Tree
8) Scenes from a Memory- Dream Thetater
9) V- Spock's Beard
10) Blackwater Park- Opeth

That's just having one of each band... it'd be a lot easier doing seperate 10 essential lists of the different sub-genres of prog..
