Must Missa Martyr of Wrath

And so we soldier on, Faithful Reader, through Estonia coming to Must Missas brand new black thrash work, Martyr of Wrath. This is certainly the most monotone album this writer heard yet from this country. If you like your blackened thrash old school style, at one speed, with little to no variation, then Martyr of Wrath will be your anthem of mediocrity.
Of course, that statement does sound more negative than is implied. The fact is that Must Missa is tight as hell. The guys sound like they are having a fun time hell-thrashing through this thirty-four minutes. Honestly, this band most likely puts on one hell of an entertaining show. Unfortunately, if you are looking for more than beer metal, you have come to wrong place. What you see is what you get. There is no depth here, no sense of other. This writer is more than willing to state that Must Missas mission with Martyr of Wrath was simply to lay down some basic old school blackened thrash. In that, they succeeded.
The thing is, where a band like Destroyer 666 or even Desaster succeed, Must Missa fail. The two former bands are able to write interesting songs while still maintaining a sense of the sinister. The latter is mere childs play in comparison.
Faithful Reader, if you cannot get enough blackened thrash, by all means check out Must Missa. Mark these word though, you will not listen to it more than a few times before you start reaching for Phoenix Rising or Unchain the Wolves.
