It won't be Nevermore.

It won't be Vanden Plas.

It won't be anything from this forum... and it won't be anything from the RC forum.

Short of someone releasing something beyond brilliant, I'm ready to state that my #1 of 2010 will be Brant Bjork's Gods and Goddesses.

I'm not expecting any support on this, but hopefully one or two people will appreciate it.

Given I posted 15 minutes worth of music and you responded to my thread three minutes after I posted it, I can only assume one of two things...

1. You didn't give this a chance
2. You've heard this before and simply have bad taste :loco:

As I said, I'm not expecting a whole lot of slaps on the back, for unearthing some gem that lots of folks here will love. I'm expecting most people will respond as you have. To each their own. However, if you happen to find yourself burning some of Thailand's crops, trying queuing this and see if you don't feel differently.

For some reason I can't explain it sounds like Joe Satriani meets White Stripes. The 2nd half of the second song posted has a little ISIS vibe to it as well.

Enjoyed the songs, not so much the vocal style.

I'll put my money on 1.

I actually enjoyed the three clips you posted. I want to check their album now. This is good stuff.

OK...I gave all three selections a thorough listen...and I gotta say I'm diggin' what I'm hearin'. I have long been a fan of the "introspective" styles of music whether it be Pink Floyd, John Coltrane, Tiamat's Deeper Kind of Slumber, the Doors, or even Isaac Hayes (the 20 minute version of "Do Your Thing" from the Shaft soundtrack is priceless)...so this is right up my alley. Thanks for the suggestion, Zod...I just added it to my cart of cd purchases.

I'm not overly familiar with the White Stripes. It reminds me of early Lenny Kravitz meets Jimmy Hendrix. Strangely, I'm not a big fan of either.

He's not a great singer. The vocal are used more to create a melodic vibe than to stand alone as they do in Prog and Power Metal.

LOL. What can you expect from a Dream Evil fan (ducks).

Cool. I know there's some cross over here between the Prog/Power genres and nearly every other form of music, so I figured one or two people might find it enjoyable enough to pick it up. To my ears, on a hot summer day, when you're just chillin in the backyard, BBQing, this music is perfect.

Awesome Bro. Glad you liked it.

I definitely do dig this. I don't think it's that far fetched for here, at least for the prog fans. I'm big on psychedelic stuff though, and this is really great. I love the tone.

I was feeling a little Hendrix/Robin Trower vibe as well...vocally, for some reason the first cut, Radio Mecca, brought visions of HR from Bad Brains. Also, I think there are some some organic elements of Ben Harper peppered into the mix. I can't wait to properly experience this release!

Listened to the clips and for some reason Lou Reed popped playing in my head. Wierd... or is it? :ill:

I used to listen to Lou Reed, JJ Cale et al in the 80's. Good stuff, but haven't bothered with them in aeons. Time for a retro trip? :Smokedev:

That's not the worst. He likes Freedom Call too. (ducks)

Sweet. Just let us know when the BBQ is and we'll be over. I'll make sure to bring some liquor.

To be honest I only listened to the first minute or so of the first clip, but I didnt dig it. And leave Freedom Call and Dream Evil out of this, besides only the first two or three FC albums are good, but every DE is a masterpiece

I've had this for a little over a month and, while I like it, it's not my favorite album of this year already. I'm glad to see Brant getting some love on this forum though.
