My friend Rich from Steadfast is auditioning for America's Got Talent and he decided to do a shreddy cover of Smooth Criminal. He wrote a backing track which I produced for him and then he recorded this last night. If you look in the back you can see the actual take recording which we then mixed and layered over the video.

Pretty cool, I liked his phrasing and he seemed like a pretty tight player (and of course he was fast) - but honestly, with the billions upon trillions of videos already on youtube of Americans in their bedrooms shreddin' lixx, I'm not really seeing anything that'll stand out here...

How old is he, btw?

A couple years younger than me, he just turned 23. But the sick thing is he started playing when he was 19. He played a little bass before that but nothing serious.
