2 days ago I finally sat down and struggled through my first attempt at automation. Just a simple glitch and panning but it's about time I actually started to learn this stuff. For some reason, in Reaper, I can't get into the mode where you can click the points and drag them....

All I can say is thank God I have for motorized faders! :)

Sorry Bryan, but I was really post to ask Jind a question :)

Jind: Wanted to know what controller surface you use... ??

My wonderful little V-Studio 100 by Roland/Cakewalk

While I like the fact that it has super tight integration with Sonar, it can be used as a control surface for other DAW programs as far as I know - yes, it only has one motorized fader, but as I switch tracks, it follows along and readjusts for whatever bus or track I'm working on. It can be used for any sort of track or effect automation I need as well as standard track levels and such. Just that alone was something I wanted, but it's a very nice interface for the solo musician as well - enough inputs for what I need and if I need more I'll buy a new Roland Octa-Capture to expand my I/O.

Learning automation is real eye-opening stuff. Learning automation made me feel like I could do anything.
