My latest mix (5150III, VCC and a ton of outboard)

Sounds cool Ermz!
The band sounds a bit dull (not the composition), but I think that's to make the vox and the synths cut through a bit easier, right?
Really cool guitarsound!

That 808 really makes the mix cry, it's ducking away like crazy haha

Absolutely brooooootal Ermin, sounds amazing,
I'm hearing right now at insane volume and sounds soooo clear :)

Awesome band by the way, great job dude.

I think this is always cool, not sure what the problem is, bass drops are meant to emphasise something, or sound brutal, frenetic (in SYL's case, they are fully taking the mix down about 10db, distorting etc)

So when it just full on drops and takes the mix with it or you get a distorted boom with some warm crackle it just makes it that much more sweet. Onee that sound completely clean usually end up being too quiet and kind of, meh, a bass drop.

Thanks for the heads up! Never heard of that band, but i really enjoy them! :) And that's become a rare thing unfortunately....

Great mix too - as usual.
Imho it sounds like it might have benefited from a bit more "edgy" guitar approach? Maybe a Sansamp PSA1 blend, similar to what tagtgren does with pain?
Just thinking out loud though...

Nah I don't like it when I hear the music getting lower because of tha boom.
But I don't really see the benefits of loud bass drops anyway.
Just a taste thing, I like it more when it's not so obvious.

Cheers for listening.

Yes, Brit N was used on the guitar tracks and bus here. Really dig what it does to clean out the mids. 5150 III on leads too, from memory.

@Fragle: Yes, if I manage to work with these guys again in the future I think mating the EVH to something very sizzly like a PSA-1, Rectifier, Cobra etc. would be my choice. We used a 6505 on the quad tracks, as that's all that was available, but it probably had too much mid-buildup to really be useful in that capacity. Live and learn! I think it still works decently well, and the tone is not competing with the vox or synths, which is the most important part in music like this.

I'm glad you guys dig it! :) Ermin did a great job with this. If you want to, you can stream the rest of the EP here http://mekanism.bandcamp.com/.

Checked and those 3 songs are great!

The other 2 songs are badass, so I'd definitely recommend checking out the bandcamp page.

Any info on bass?
listen on ATH M50, the bass seems the part of guitar sound especially on the ruler of ashes. Really controlled low end :worship:
