Great piece from Old Kingdom that shows the proper Egyptian canon. and the Queen by his side is believed to be his primerly wife: *takes a deep breath before spelling* Khamerernebty.
I'm an art history nerd myself. teehee.
oh, and GREAT pictures too! :kickass:
you and the BF look very cute! :)

Thanks guys, for the kind words.

Yups, that's her! I was kind of put off at first because they had down Menkaure's Greek name instead of his Egyptian one. The Old Kingdom was my favorite style; no alien heads like the Amarna Period.

Amarna period was short, but was extremely special too, IMO :)
I've been to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston once, and saw that statue...
yep greek name... but it's ok.. at least it's an Egyptian piece the British Museum doesn't have ;)

After do a lot of learning on the Amarna period, I realize that I'm not a fan of Ankhenaten. And while objectively that period contributed a whole bunch to the Egyptian culture and art, I have my quarrels with it. Mostly because it deviated from the classical stylized realism, adding those two extra blocks on the grid, etc.

But it was so interesting... I actually admire the boldness of it.
Gotta admire a bold move in art, especially when back in that day, the same style and look took place for 3000 years...
I also have to give Akhenaten some credit for being the first psycho religious monotheist

oh, nice butt btw :Smug:
