Well, after scouring these here forums and doing a fair amount of research, I too have joined the jSX (now XSr) masses and picked one up on ebay a few weeks ago. This was one seriously killer deal; it came with a roadcase (albeit an old musty one, but hey, it's still heavy duty) and the full JJ KT77 retube kit from Eurotubes, all for $850 incl. shipping!! However, those chrome faceplates just didn't sit right with me, but rather than just take 'em off, I took them to the autobody shop where I used to work, who painted them gloss black for $100. Behold, and consider the XSr ante upped

So now it's time for tone settings comparos! After spending the past few days tweaking, I've pretty much got it finalized. The #'s refer to the knob numbers, not o'clocks:
Ultra Channel:
Gain - 6
Bass - 5.5
Mid - 4
Treb - 4.5 (lower than my old 5150, but when I step back, any higher shreds my eardrums)
Pres - 6
Res - 5.5
This is with the pictured EC-400 w/ EMG 81's straight in the amp, no gain boost (I'll get one eventually). What do you fellow XSr owners think?
