My review of Megadeth's Endgame for Full Metal Rock webzine

I have to admit that I'm not that impressed with it on the first listen. Too much guitar widdling which just does nothing for me and I haven't found anything really memorable about it as yet. That is just my first impression but maybe that opinion will change after repeated listens.

yeah its a grower. I already listened to it like 15 times so it doesn't need to grow any more on me!

I will give it a chance, cos Megadeth are one of my all time favourite bands. :headbang:

I'm with Jenna. Listened to it last night and was pretty disappointed. I'll give it another listen tonight, but it so far it's like United Abominations II to me. :erk:

I agree, and that album wasn't that great apart from a couple of killer tracks. Nothing on this new one has grabbed me like Washington Is Next or Sleepwalker did.

I agree with Jenna to an extent.

The album is great in places, with some good thrashy moments, and catchy melodic choruses. It feels rushed though, some songs feel unfinished, and some solos seem like they've just been added for their own sake, rather than to add to the song. Such as the intro (Dialectic Chaos), which is far inferior to "Into The Lungs Of Hell" from SFSGSW.

I think it's a decent album, even great in places, but it's not up there with my fave Megadeth albums.

Being a huge 'Deth fan, I'm pretty pleased with "Endgame" thus far. Don't know where it will rank among my favorite 'Deth cd's at the end of the day, but so far I enjoy the variety and ultimate heaviness that Mustaine featured on this cd. The production is very well done as well.

I don't know...it's just that for me, even though it's Mustaine's band, Megadeth is not the same without Marty Friedman, Dave Ellefson and Nick Menza. With that said, I'm gonna have to pass on this album.
