After a long silence, My Ruin vocalist Tairrie B has checked in with the following news:
“Once upon a time, way back in 1999, I was signed as a solo artist to Snapper Music UK. I had just quit Tura Satana, the band I previously founded in 1993 and created My Ruin. I assembled a group of talented friends and musicians who joined me in the studio both in Los Angeles and a small town a few hours from London to make some music magic.
Not long after, My Ruin’s debut album Speek & Destroy was born. I consider S&D a timeless recording in my discography because it was the first under what would become my new moniker. It was the spark which started the fire of my journey and led me to meeting my future musical partner / husband, Mick Murphy the following year, and the many albums we have released as My Ruin since 2000, including the one we are quietly working on now.
While S&D does not represent who we are musically as a band in 2025, it will always hold a sacred space in my heart because of what it signifies. Songs like “Terror”, “Cosmetic” and “Blasphemous Girl” were my empowering personal anthems of rebellion, the latter of which I had inked permanently on my body as a reminder to resist false prophets in all forms, from religion to relationships. Along with the hypnotically intimate spoken word of ‘My Beautiful Flower’, ‘Horrible Pain’ and ‘June 10’ to the unapologetic rage fueled screams of ‘Sick With It’, ‘Diavolina’ and ‘Sycophant’ , this intense and eclectic multi-faceted album was my metamorphosis and mission statement.
Today, I am excited to announce that after 26 years, and for the first time ever, Snapper / Madfish will be releasing Speak & Destroy on black & white marble 2LP vinyl for Record Store Day UK on April 12, 2025.
