my vocals

It's actually really good. The type of vocals I like...

It strong and not whispery like eg morbid angel vox, and it has punch. it's also sinister...

a lil bit human sounding, but most vox are like that hehe.. try to sound like a beast

Hmm you sound kinda like me haha, but yours is better :[ Do you have trouble pronouncing some words? Like it comes out funny and gay.

really nice...
Did you practice by yourself or learn from a teacher?I heard this kinda sound is really bad for throat,if singing in a wrong way.

No hes actually doing it a very good way. When you first start off your throat will take a beating but after doing it you kinda get immune to it.

Yeah, I have been doing it for a year now. It does hurt like a bitch at the start, but provided you keep your throat lubricated, it stops hurting after about three days. I sound better when I do more Norther esque screams, than Nile type ones.

Id listen to crumpet metal..
:headbang:

Haha. Do re mi fa so la ti do. I just saw you post it on another forum, here it is again:p Made me laugh and sounded pretty decent too.

I did a recording tonight, I got kinda drunk and thought "Man I want to growl along to "Calculcate The Apocalypse" by Scar Symmetry". So I did a quick karaoke convert thing, and took out all of the original vocals (well about 95%), and recorded my growls to the song. I was too drunk to make do the singing parts, so I just skipped them for now. I'm a more adept growler so I pulled that part off though. lol. Check it out if you guys are curious. Let me know what you think.

Wow your vocals rock, but they have to much reverb.

Haha. Sorry, trying to keep it close to original required a bit of delay. Although I did notice it too. I forgot to turn off the extra reverb before uploading... I had been experimenting:S

Re-uploaded the song to same URL, reverb is turned completely off now. with a small hint of delay but not much.

1349, any chance you could record a more complete song or anything? Like more than one line I mean so we can get a better idea of your growl?

How do you do this? Is it loud or do you just crank the mic volume? What's the proper "technique"

To be honest, I don't listen to this kind of music much... but, as a musician... something tells me there's a talent behind this.. especially when bands are able to do years and years of endless touring with this style of vox...

Any links to websites that teach this or anything else would be much obliged.

any requests? lol, not too fast, somthing slower

TheCatharsisEffect :
I can't speak for everyone but I myself am very loud when I do this style vocals. Around yelling volume easy. Cranking the gain or whatever on the mic will not do. If one wants a strong growl they need to learn how to reach acceptable power.

Yes there is definitely a talent to doing this style as well, there are huge amounts of technique and practice to creating a dynamic voice and not sounding monotone and boring. I was lucky enough to be able to do it naturally, but I'm pretty sure it's something not everyone can do.

The trick is not hurting yourself so you can continue to sing as well should you require.:p

Whatever you feel is good is fine. I think what you did had a lot of potential so I'm up for whatever. Your growl has better technique than most:S haha
