So I get home from work yesterday and I'm relaxing, boots off, eating my supper....and *ding dong*!!!!! it's the doorbell. Now, I don't normally answer the door because it's usually a waste of time...but I hear the screen door open, and something thump into the door proper.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

also...I'm expecting some things in the mail, so I wait a few minutes in case its a salesperson. I go to the door, unlock all three locks...
and what should I spy! My heart is leaping like a young stag upon the precipices of Mount Elation!!!!!!!!!

(the cats of course had to investigate this new source of scent.)

and...is it the CDs I've been waiting for? Is it the mystery box from Olde Europe I've been promised???

NO.

it's a box of dried fruit from my parents. While I appreciate the thought, and I may actually even eat the dried apricots, I am disappointed. Anyone want some dried dates and prunes??

haha. thats like the worst gift ive ever seen. once my grandparents gave my mom a brick for xmas. it was an artsy brick. but a brick nonetheless. your gift is definitely in the same category.

haha i just remembered one time i was at some family reunion and i had never seen fruitcake before. someone said "oh try some!" and i took one bite and threw up everywhere.

my mom told me i actually had the stomach flu then (i was really young) but i like to pretend it was just the fruitcake.

yeah...this is a step above a fruitcake, but only a step. but its not like I can call up my mom and say, "hey mom, your gift sucks!"
