Just picked up the 6534+ today. Going to do some A/B tests against my friend's 6505+ so we can all hear the difference between these two amps!

Since it's a relatively new model there really aren't that many straight A/B comparison clips out there, so I thought I'd do the world a favour and make one.

"In the room" the 6534 already wins, hands down. So much more full sounding, with a huge low end and rich mid grunt. But mic'd up and "in the mix" will probably be a different story.

Subscribed!

One of my mates from Edinburgh has a 6534+ and the other guitarist in his band has my old 6505, he says the 6534 kills it. Makes me want one!

Well I finished doing test clips today. I'll upload the results and make a thread either tonight or tomorrow.
But in short - neither amp is 'better' it just depends what you look for. The 6505+ is thinner and subsequently harsher, and the 6534+ is much more mid-present and has a better note-fundamental. But, in the mix, they're pretty even.

the note thing makes me curious?

im a single note riff kinda guy, so that speaks to me, can you explain more when you post the sample?

is the feel tighter?
do you run a TS or 808 in front?

No nothing.
Both clips were guitar > amp > cab > mic, kept it simple as possible.

By better note definition I just mean there's more of the actual note in there, more of the... err... i don't know, it's hard to explain. It's sort of drier, less wet in the top end, so you get more of the definition of the note come out, rather than have a blanket of wwhhhssshhh over the top of it. But, that's not always a bad thing. Depends what sort of mix you're going for. But for that really raspy, throaty thrash sort of tone, the 6534 is where it's at. That probably results in it not sounding as big, but that's complete conjecture, I don't know until I mix it all.

yeah ! those clips man! :D

thanks for trying to describe it, being an 80`s thrash dude playing a emg loaded jackson kv2 i think this amp sounds just down my alley.

ive been through a few amps over the years:

Rectifier, peavey 6505+, randall rm, framus cobra, krank rev1, evh 5153, vht sig:zipit:, and engl fireball, and i allways liked the 6505+ the most.
edit: forgot i had a soldano avenger at some point too :p

maybe i should just order one :D

nahhh, waiting for clips :p

gimme !!

Hahaha
Well on reflection today's session absolutely sucked. Picked a really shitty mic position because I felt a bit rushed and I'm not happy with the results, So the comparison clips will have to wait until they are re-done, maybe Sunday.

However - i can redo some 6534 clips tomorrow, I'll post them up ASAP, I promise! At least that way you'll know if it sounds good or not, regardless of how it is against a 6505.
