sorry for being ignorant, but what does 'amon amarth" actually mean???

a mountain in Tolkien's lord of the rings. Somehow there are 100's of bands with LOTR related names. I mean really a band like "Göteborg's drunks" wouldn't sound very kewl would it?

But "Amon" is also an Egyptian god. If I'll have a son later on I'm going to call him Amon. The reason why I found out about AA was because of their name...

Amon Amarth is indeed Mount Doom, and for some reason i am recalling that it is in the language of the Numenorians, but i could be wrong (i dont have the LOTR books memorized like some people do haha)

Funny...l recently I had a discussion about this with a friend..she studies ancient history and egyptology....
both names: Amun or Amon are correct..its just a matter of spellling, cause both names refer to the egyptian sungod...
