Hello Maidenittes.

Just wanted to see if MiniMurray and any of the other Maiden's will be at the NAMM show this year. I fly out to the west next Tuesday. Probably good timing since they are calling for a snowstorm and colder temps in Ohio soon.

Yessssss, wouldn't miss an event like that! NAMM is always fun! We'll be poking around on the weekend sometime. Gotta juggle some scheduling before we can figure out which day/days we'll be able to go. You going all 4 days???

Aja, Don't worry, we are getting plenty of rain too. Ohio River is going to flood over it appears. At least that is what I have been hearing. Luckily, I live on higher ground.

Linda, I will be there all 4 days due to work. Have no real choice. lol. I met you 2 years ago at the SIT booth. Still with the company. This year I hope to find out some info on software and such for my MAC, while at the show. Any in the band use MAC? I have talked to Sara a few times but I think I remember her using PC based stuff. BTW, Sara got an acoustic for Christmas. Got it off of ebay for a great deal but have to get some work done on it. It is one of the first Takamine Santa Fe models.

Hope the flooding doesn't get out of hand.

I'm a Mac girl, always have been, though I was on a PC for about a year and a half. Loved the speed but hated the virus and trojan problem and the frequent crashing. Am so happy to be back! Not running any music programs on it but I do have Garageband, :lol:which, I've been told, is the first step to learning Logic. :headbang:

Aja,

You are going to be my software buddy. LOL. I was looking up stuff on Storm 3.0 by Arturis and Live 4.0 by Apleton. Need something that I can do some basic writing and such but it can also do odd time signatures (too many years of listening to Fates Warning and King Crimson). I tried out an MBox with protools once and that was pretty intensive. So this year I am interested in finding something maybe a little less price intense and more user friendly.

As for the viruses and MAC, it is great isn't it? I rub in on my PC friends all the time that I don't own one virus program and such. I have had my IMAC for 3 years now with no problems.

What part of OH did you grow up in?

Ya , I just use Norton to keep the disk defragged and running smooth. I love this thing, as much as it's possible to love an inanimate object!!
I'm not the most informed with music programs though every studio, it seems, has protools. It IS pricey but oh so intuitive and the little I've played on it was really fun. A lot of people I know have Digital Performer, as well, though that one seems a bit more complex to me. We'l just have to see if I'm "Logical".

I lived in Xenia and Dayton as a kid, then moved to Philly when in my teens. Quite an adjustment-going from or-ange to ah-range!

Aja,

Normally at NAMM, the pro-audio and software hall is packed with people. It is usually the busiest area of the NAMM show. But one thing you will notice, pretty quickly, is the large amount of MAC computers being used. It takes a few days for me to wander, while on my breaks, around to all the software makers. Most of them are pretty easy to talk to though.

I lived in Dayton when I was a rugrat. My dad was in the Air Force and stationed at Wright-Patterson. Then we moved further north and I have been in and around the Akron area almost ever since. Personally, I think 'the Iron Maidens' need to do a show here. *hint-hint-nudge-nudge*

Sara,
Here is the ugly and somewhat surreal story about my Takamine. It is a EN-12C (6-string version). One of the first of the Santa Fe's. Anyway, I place the first bit. No bids on this guitar at all. Then the last few minutes I get on ebay and notice I have been outbid so I then get into a bidding war for a few minutes and LOSE! Then the phone rings, its my mom, I was bidding against her! :loco:

So I open up the case on Christmas and find there is a 3-4 inch crack in the top. Its also a cut-away dreadnought but the guy had it in a jumbo guitar case cushioned with one towel!:err: So, anyway the guitar is now with a luthier getting worked on. Turns out this guy we got it from also never had a humidifier so the bracing on the inside was all loose due to the glue drying up (It came from AZ), which probably caused the major damage on the top.

In the end though, we are still ahead because the guitar plays great and has a good full sound. We are also working on UPS insurance and some type of deal with the seller to get some money for the work I am getting done. He never mentioned the crack in the auction or when I asked him about the guitar.:err:

Another interesting ebay story I guess but for the money we got it for it is a great deal.
