Need Ammo?

I don't think helathcare is the problem, maybe if Americans stopped eating every god damned cheeseburger they crave and didn;t smoke like a chimney we wouldn't have such a problem. I actaully believe the state of the average US citizen is the result of stupidity rather the government or benefits we are given.

Hey I have a questions for the people in the USA. I saw yesterday that in Arizona you can go watch the president talk while carrying an AK-47... as long as everyone can see it. But if I went to see the president talk in Arizona and smoked some pot, would they be allowed to shoot me? :Saint:

yes, Arizona has an open-carry policy... versus other states that have concealed-carry permits, and other states that are much more strict on who and where guns are allowed. for example, in DC, you cant even own a gun. that law was recently fought, and i believe defeated, as going contrary to our rights to own guns. but i'm sure there's still a fight going on over that.

however, the protester was OK because he was in an un-restricted zone. the president spoke in a restricted zone, they would have tackled his ass down on the ground had he crossed the invisible line.

and if you smoked, well, they might shoot you for any of the following reasons:
1. cuz they think weed is bad
2. cuz they want your weed
3. cuz you're posing a health risk to "their" public air

Quoting myself from another thread:
In a comparison done between 13 nations in the 1998 Oxford University Press, the US ranked:

* 13th (last) for low-birth-weight percentages
* 13th for neonatal mortality and infant mortality overall
* 11th for postneonatal mortality
* 13th for years of potential life lost (excluding external causes)
* 11th for life expectancy at 1 year for females, 12th for males
* 10th for age-adjusted mortality

The US spends the highest percentage of it's GDP on healthcare in the world (around 15% of GDP) and the highest per person spending at around $4200 per person per year.

For those of you who are US citizens who favor reform I urge you to email your congressmen directly or via a form letter like this one (which will automatically choose the right representatives based on your address). You can be sure that the town hall shouters will be, so I think it's important to remind congress that there is still strong support.

{dismounts from high horse}

I have 6% body fat but it doesn't change the fact that if I break my leg w/o insurance it will cost me 1/4 of a years wages.

yea but yall dont get free health care like us irish! muahahaha... still though if you want some sort of quality go for health insurance like i have but if you cant afford it you get free health care.

Referring to semi-autos as assault weapons always cracks me up. Now that is some ammo for the anti-gun crowd!

What is an AR-15 if not an assault rifle? Maybe enthusiasts get more granular in their categories, but I think it's pretty reasonable to expect the average person to miss the distinction between the consumer and military models of a gun --particularly in the context of a political forum.
To be fair, I don't find the AR-15 any less appropriate to bring to a public meeting than a shotgun loaded with rock salt.

That's just it. It's the semi-auto designation of an M-16 or an M4. No more deadly than any other firearm that someone would use to intentionally use to kill or maim...especially a criminal who shoots to kill, not hurt. Hell, most murders occur with small caliber handguns such as 22s which are glorified pea shooters...or 9mm which on their own will not usually knock someone to the ground like a .45 would.

I wouldn't expect the average citizen to know the difference between a real assault rifle and a civilian variant, but you would think the media...ah hell, I take it back. I expect them to demonize them in exactly that way. :lol:

Fair points. For better or worse I think the average person finds a big gun more intimidating and the military heritage implies certain things as well.
IMO that factor is the only reason you would carry a giant gun on your back to a public meeting that isn't about guns.

Yeah, I can agree with that. But honestly, they have the right can lawfully carry it open and in public. If they want to make their voices heard regarding the second amendment, then so be it...whether it was a debate about guns or not. I personally wouldn't do the same.

Man if only the health care debate was as rational as this conversation.
