The band is called Carcinoma that I am recording. www.myspace.com/carcinomaband

I am looking for help on the mastering process because I feel like a blind person firing a gun when I am working with compressors in that there is certainly something that I am going to unintentionally kill.
If anybody would be so courteous as to do a quick mastering on the uncompressed wave I have it here...

At first-about the mix:
imho the vox are to loud and the kick really farts out, I would reduce the bass a tiny bit and move the rhythm guitars a bit up (really dig there sound for that kind of stuff).
About the mastering:
I really suck at mastering but I would give it a try.

Just tryed a few things-but like I said, I am not good at it:

Used some multiband compression, event horizon (limiter) and tls pocket limiter in the end just to be sure that there are no peaks that are to extreme (for mp3s I normally set it to -0.8 or -1.0db).
That's it, but I think that almost everybody here is able to do it better than me.
I didn't have the time to check it completely but imho the average rms level was around -8.5db, thought that it was ok that way-I know loudness war but I liked it :D

Before you think about mastering you should work on the vocals ;) they are way too loud, and thin sounding. a ~200-400hz boost + more compression should do the trick.. Kick could get lowered a tad too. Besides of that, the mix sounds pretty good!

First, I think you should work a bit more on the mix. Lower that voice for sure, and fit it more in the mix. Change that kick sample ASAP, there is no low-end to it, sounds too flappy, and I would prolly change the snare as well, give it more body and make it more spacy/roomy, guitars sound good, bass could fill a bit more of the low end and give a bit more thump. Work a bit on that and I believe you can have a good mix, I'm liking the song

Yeah I will definitely bring down those vocals. As for the snare and kick samples... Does anybody have any which would be suitable for the style? I know the sample thread is one of the largest stickies we have but the links didn't work for me. Can anybody direct me to some alternative samples?
