Need vocals for prog metal song. Anyone want to give it a shot?

Hey guys! I have an instrumental prog metal band and recently I found myself wanting to write something with vocals... problem is, I have no idea who's going to actually sing. This would probably be just one song (I really want to have at least ONE song with vocals!) and just for fun.

I was wondering if anyone here would like to give it a shot. I uploaded a small clip of the first verses and pre-chorus or whatever. The song isn't finished and it will probably be something like Dream Theater's A Nightmare to Remember, In The Presences of Enemies, etc. (yeah right)

The lyrics are cheesy as hell and definitely not final... just try something melodic (without following the piano though!) but feel free to sing it as you please.

Any help would be extremely appreciated and I'm looking forward to your clips!

Here are the lyrics (starting at 0:02 and all the way to the end of the clip, with a small pause when the distorted guitars come in)

As I lay
Deep in thought
I Watch the clouds
Their eternal dance

Unfulfilled dreams
Shatter my mind
Visions of life
Of times gone by

This world doesn't care
Who's left behind
A child, a name
That bears no lies

An existence with no regrets
Cut her open to ease your pain

Thanks a lot!

PS: Of course, this is an unmixed, extremely raw version of what the song will be. :Smokedev:
PS II: I wouldn't mind some growling backing vocals somewhere in there!

maybe i can help you, but please upload at dropbox or something else that makes me easy to download.

btw give me details about the lyric (verse, chorus, etc.)

Thanks man! I uploaded it to Esnips. http://www.esnips.com/webfolder/ff8b3ccf-195f-4949-918d-4d963ac0b7d0 (the vocalsearch.mp3)

It is just a 42 seconds clip but I already wrote 4 mins... but mostly just intro stuff. Like I said, vocals should start at 2 seconds in that clip. Then at 0:35, after the heavy guitars come in, the "An existence..." line should be sung.

I don't know, it comes easy in my head. :loco: I can make another clip with some sort of vocal melody using a keyboard lead or something if you'd like.

Thanks for replying so quickly!

BTW, like I said I haven't finished the song, I have the complete lyrics and all but not the music, those are just the lyrics for that part of the tune. I just couldn't wait to hear what some of you guys might do with it. I expect it to be a pretty long song too. (about 14 mins)

You could say this is just a test to find someone to sing it. :)

That would be great!

If you can PM me your email maybe I can send you the file directly. I already have 40 more seconds or so...

I'll record some vocal melodies with a keyboard too, and I'll send you a clip with it, and one without it.

Thanks so much!
