Hey guys and gals got a question.

While watching Netflix on my TV(not computer) it will rebuffer every 10 minutes or so, is this a common problem? I have a 5mbs DSL line, feeding a Netgear N300 modem/router, connected by cable(550mhz bandwidth) to a Samsung blue-ray player. I have contacted by internet carrier and I am receiving anywhere from 4.8 to 5.2 mbs, My modem/router is working at peak efficent, ohmed out the cable it is okay and the Blue-ray player is fine. Now i have heard that sometimes Netflix "throttles" the receiving bandwidth is this true?

I've had this issue when using my browser, which was a Microsoft Silverlight issue.

I haven't heard of this issue for people who are using their BluRay player to stream Netflix.

Its probably your DSL Line or Router. Did you try power cycling when that occurs? It used to happen to me when I had lower bandwith too but not to much anymore once in a while so it may have somethign to do with Netflix servers?

I used to stream over my Wii and always had an annoying buffer session or two for 30 minutes I watched.

I am Using the TV not the computer, it is a straight line from the Modem/Router to the DVD player. No browser needed. No problem on my wife's computer and it is connected wireless.

just a thought. When your watching is anything else using your bandwidth? I used to have that problem too when I had lower speeds but I upgraded and get 25 mbps now and run it wireless into my PS3 and have no problems, well almost, actually the other day I had to power cycle my router to get connectivity again but when it reconnected it worked perfect. If there is a Line or Internet Connection test on your Blu Ray player run that and see how it comes up. On PS3 it has that and lets you see your connectivity status.

Okay guys and gals problem has been identified, It is my internet carrier AT&T, in my area they are "Throttling back" on customers who stream alot data and use high bandwidth and also on phone customers under their "Unlimited phone data" plans in an attempt to 1) Get internet customers to upgrade to a faster service, and 2) phone users to drop the unlimited plan and take one of thier tiered plans. Well AT&T has basiclly lost me as a customer for internet service, as i am calling Time Warner today and check their services and prices.
Thank god my phone carrier is Sprint.

J-Man, that doesn't make much sense though, since you don't have an issue when streaming to the PC. This sounds like either a local network issue, or a problem with your BluRay player. Have you checked for any firmware upgrades with the player? Also, the data throttling wouldn't cause hiccups every 10 minutes.

Blue-Ray player is up to date, all current firmware is installed. Today there has been no problems, so i have no clue now what the problem is now.
