Neutral Milk Hotel

The vocals and lyrics make me cringe because they're so trite, and I don't hear anything remotely special the music.

Thats the cool thing about it. It is so unpretentious, heartfelt, and creative. Honestly, do not tell me "Holland, 1945" has bad lyrics or music.

Though, the record is certainly strange and I see where you are coming from. And you should make me another mix.

I don't recall saying the band was bad, just overrated and not very original or unique. Maybe I will later if I feel like it.

:kickass: Hit the nail on the head right there. Neutral Milk Hotel is absolutely incredible. They're the only indie rock band that I can relate to.

As for them not being creative or unique... whaa? I don't know much about indie, but the modern "cutting edge" bands today are still basically doing the same shit Mangum was in the mid-90s, so I'd consider them pretty creative and unique in their time.
