Nevermore - My favourite. Old school songwriting combined with that distinctive Nevermore element courtesy of Loomis/Dane. Garden of Grey is just fucking epic. What Tomorrow Knows is the videoclip/hit song...
The Politics of Ecstacy - A fan favourite, this is perhaps the most technical of their albums, you could also argue this is their real debut as the previous one was supposed to be a demo... Check out Seven Tongues of God, Next in Line and This Sacrament (what an awesome solo) to get the idea. Loomis goes apeshit on this album.
Dreaming Neon Black - My favourite. Perfect balance of everything, plus it has Beyond Within, Dreaming Neon Black, Poison Godmachine and that chillingly beautiful outro: Forever
Dead Heart... - This made them really famous in Greece, in my opinion it's inferior to the previous stuff but it still is a great album. I was a bit put back at the somewhat sterile drum sound but with songs like Narcosynthesis and Inside Four Walls you can't go wrong. Also, nice ballads (Believe in Nothing, Heart Collector)
Enemies of Reality - Two version exist of this album. The original mix, which is the SHIT mix and the Andy Sneap mix, which somewhat saves the situation. The album's music is actually REALLY good, one could argue this is one of their best but the production suffers. Still, since the shit mix seems to have gone away, I have seen more and more people cite this as their favourite. I'll just say that Seed Awakening is among the best Nevermore songs ever. Awesome riffage, the beginning just makes me wanna rage... Another "modern" Nevermore album, who purists won't like... I should clarify that puristsd would only tolerate the first one btw...And some songs here and there from the rest of the discography...
...and the Godless Endeavor - Their last until The Obsidian Conspiracy is released (can't wait!). I'd say it sums up pretty much the entire Nevermore catalogue, in a great production, heavy and clear, some awesome soloing, great songwriting. Check out Born, The Godless Endeavor, Sentinent 6 (the "ballad" - love it) to get an idea.
In short, I am a big Nevermore fan and I'd say as people have varying opinions on what their best album is, that's always a very healthy indicator that we are talking about a good band (ask yourselves: best Metallica album, best Death album, best Slayer etc...see what I mean?)
