New Acoustic tone

i really like the tone and the song itself. i'm curious about the type of mic and mic placement you used.

one thing i noticed that you may want to check is the tuning. sounds one or two strings may be a bit off. if those are new strings make sure you stretch them out so they stay in tune better.

Im glad you like the song.

I was using a Nady CM-88 with the mic pointed directly at the 15th fret about 3 inches away.

thanx

So here is the beginning of a new song that my band has been working on. I realize its not as "metal" as some would like but this will probably be our only completely clean song. I was just wondering what you guys though of the actual tone that I got.

btw I recorded it with a Martin DM acoustic.

Sounds great. I'll have to try out that angle on micing I usually just go straight at the soundhole.

Yea I've found that you get a pretty annoying "booming" sound if you go straight at the sound hole but its too thin sounding at the 12th fret.

Had a second listen, and it does sound kind of harsh on those sharp strumming transients. Could use some compression to bring those parts down a little.

Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't do any eq-ing or compression. The only thing I did on this track was add a slight bit of reverb.
