New After Forever video for Energize Me

Why is Floor singing in a pool I asked? Why are they laying on the ground I asked? Playing amongst fireballs is pretty metal, so I wasn't scratching my head on that one.

Then I realized... earth, wind, fire, and water. The 4 Earth "elements."

Nice song. Looking forward to seeing it live.

Energize Me isn't bad at all but falls on the lower end of the new album tracklist. Wait until you get to hear the rest of the tracks on the upcoming CD. It's their best album ever  I only hope some festival here has booked them this summer...

Well, they're going to be at ProgPowerUSA this year, so that's going to be great!

The song's a bit more commercial and not as gothic, but still a nice melodic single...

The single is exactly what it is meant to be, an attempt at reaching the commerical masses. However, the rest of the album is a nice return to form, including the growls and the huge pomp/orchestration that made them successful in the first place. The 11 minute track, Dreamflight, is FANFUCKINGTASTIC and possibly the best song they have ever written.

They are going to bring the house down this year.

I have to get this album preordered. What I've heard is amazing. I really think Floor is in a class of her own. She can sing operatically and immediately switch to a standard rock voice easily and belt a song no matter what way she is singing. This adds a whole extra dimension to their music and is what a lot of other female singers often lack. They can do one well but lack in the other area. That was one of my biggest issues with Tarja. Amazing operatic voice but when they started moving away from that to a more commercial sound, she fell behind.

I'm still desperately trying to get into this band. I only have Reimagine so far. It reminds me of what Nightwish would sound like if Tuomas wasn't writing their songs. The only song I really enjoy on that album is "Free of Doubt." This new "Energize Me" song is quite encouraging, however, and perhaps I need to give this band more of a chance.

As they stand, however, After Forever cross me as a band that has all the right ingredients for greatness but are missing something that just pulls it all together for them.

It kind of sounds like their problem has been their label and lack of promotion. I believe they have switched labels as of this album and that is a big reason of why they're finally making it to the US.

The song was all right. It is definitely not one of their best. I like their longer songs. I also love it when Floor just goes crazy with her vocals on songs. She has such great intensity. I thought their last album was pretty good, so I don't think the new album has to return to form. The growling I can do without, but it was used to great effect on Invisible Circles. I don't see them going the route of Within Temptation and eliminating the growls. So you just have to live with them.

Yep, the growling appears on a song here and there. It's certainly not used as much as the early records but I think more so than Reimagine from what I can tell. I personally wish they'd add more growls from time to time. Their current growler is much better than Mark (I believe he actually said he doesn't think he's a good growler on the "We Will Take You With Us" dvd). Also I think it's the guitarist who sings clean vocals on a song and I love his voice. I think he's been singing since Invisible Circles but they seem to limit the clean vocals to 2 songs at most.
