New After Forever video for Energize Me

It's a good song , but it most definitely sounded like it was intentionally made to be commercial (it definitely applied the formulas to make it radio friendly) . It isn't up to par with what they have done, but if it is a song that hooks a lot of new listeners, to be the gateway for them to listen to their other better material, then great. I'm glad to hear that the other songs are what we expect to hear from them, as I'd hate to think that they sold out, to shave down their talent for a successful future. I'm going to listen to the new album, when I can get it.

As far as AF not doing anything for a couple of people here, I'll admit that aside from Floor's great operatic and great rock vocals (which I've been a fan of since I heard her in Aryeon), they didn't do much for me either...at first (over the first couple or few years that I heard of them). But, more recently, I got more of their albums and am now a fan! I'd suggest listening to Mea Culpa (they're greatest hits CD), so that way you more of an idea of what they have to offer. Then I'd work your way back from the newer to the older stuff. On Invisible Circles, just skip past the acted out, spoken scenes, as they're horrible. And for anyone who is put off by the growling/death vocals, more songs are w/o those vocals, than with. And those songs still have Floor singing in them anyways. I'm thankful that some people hear have suggested AF to me. I really look forward to seeing them play @ PPVIII this year! :kickass:

No need to worry about how 'commercial' the single is, the upcoming CD is just awesome and live on stage AF are always a treat. Just have a look at this clip from a gig last June: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TC4oRqcadVk :heh:

Though the sound is quite crappy, you can see how they all are really into it and AF are by no means too proud to make awesome covers, too. :kickass:

Yeah all the live stuff that I've seen of AF shows that they are great on stage! And they do great covers (i.e. "Who Wants To Live Forever" and "The Evil That Men Do")! I hadn't seen that NW cover before though. Thanks for posting that, they nailed it, as I would expect them to! I could bet that Tuomas begged Floor to join NW, when they were looking for a new singer!

The single is exactly what it is meant to be, an attempt at reaching the commerical masses. However, the rest of the album is a nice return to form, including the growls and the huge pomp/orchestration that made them successful in the first place. The 11 minute track, Dreamflight, is FANFUCKINGTASTIC and possibly the best song they have ever written.

They are going to bring the house down this year.

I just agree 200% on that.

Been counting the days/months/years for me to see this band live! And they will for sure, bring the house down! :heh:  :notworthy :kickass:
